Unable to setup automatic update checks

Hi,

just renewed my ObjectDesktop license. I have been off for a year or so. Now, when I launch the "Object Desktop Manager" I get the following error message: "Sorry, unable to setup automatic checks. Please try again. If it fails again, you may run Object Desktop manually to retrieve updates until the issue is resolved."

What does this mean actually? What am I supposed to do?

Kind regards

Leif Erik

I would re-download ODM from your My Downloads page:

https://store.stardock.com/login.aspx?ReturnUrl=/myaccount/products

If after installing it you continue to see this message, I'd like to see a screenshot and then we can open a support ticket for you.

OK, the message is still there after download latest ODM and reboot+rerun. Here is the error message:

And here is the empty ODM that comes up after selecting OK in the above message box:

Let me know what more information you need.

Not sure if you can read or see the first of my images above, but it looks like garbage to me so here is a new attempt:

I had to delete that image in the post as it wasn't displaying correctly.

leifel - Can you check if your firewall is blocking the app?

Checked the firewall. No blocking there, and same error if I disable the firewall whatsoever.

Can you log out and log back into ODM?

Yes, logging out and back in solved the problem. ODM now provides me with the list of available updates. Thanks! But, unfortunately the same error message is back when I exit and restart ODM. However, now I get the list of updates. Maybe it is the list as fetched from the server on recent successful run, but I will revert with a new support request when and if needed. Again, thanks!
