Need help with logons.

I am running XP. I have downloaded the logon studio program and installed it. I then downloaded a logon theme from Wincusomize. When I read the how to import logon theme it tells me to look for a .exe, the problem is the files I am downloading arent .exe. Can any one help on how to do this? In need of some brains on this.

It all depends on whether the file that the author uploaded is a .logonxp or a .zip!

If when you click [download] it is a .logonxp then select the option to open and it should install itself into the Logon program and open the LogonStudio. Click apply and OK to close it out.

If when you click [download] it is a .zip then there are probably more than one resolution in the .zip. Extract the one that matches your screen size to your desktop. Open LogonStudio and click the 'Load' button. A box will open. Click the 'Desktop' button on left and double click the logon you want in the box. Then just click apply and OK to close it out.

It seems that all the files in the Logon section have a .logonxp extension even though some were uploaded as .zip! That changes things slightly.... I would suggest downloading all Logons with the 'Save Target as...' to your desktop. Then open with Winzip. If there are bunch of bitmaps inside just point LogonStudio to it and load it up. If there are multiple .logonxp files inside, just extract the appropriate one out to your desktop and go from there.

I have tried both of the suggestions I have received and it still will not work. This royally sucks. Thank you for the advice, I really wish I could get this to work. If any one knows a email contact for stardock logon let me know. Still looking for help. Thanks

The Help file with LogonStudio could be more helpful. It tells you how to create a Logon, but now how to load one.
Then it goes on to tell you how to import a Logonui.exe.
If you're trying to load a theme downloaded from this site, you're not going to find an .exe, unless a logonui is included in the zip.

Another problem is that people zip up their .logonxp files, and when uploaded, the site renames the .zip to .logonxp, so you end up with the original logonxp inside the logonxp file the site created.
Loading this file with LogonStudio, or double clicking the file, unpacks the original and sticks it in a folder. To get to the list, you still have to open that folder to get to the "real" logonxp file.

In other words, follow these steps:

1. just double click on the Logonxp file you downloaded. Once the Logon XP software opens, check if your file was added to the list. If yes, choose it and apply. You'll see your new logon next time you log on. If your logon isn't in the list, go to step 2.

2.rename the .logonxp extention to .zip
Open the zip file and look what's in it, if you find another Logonxp file, extract it and repeat step 1.

I don't know if other zip programs will do it, but with ZipCentral, you don't have to rename the logonxp extension to zip, you just drag it into the program window.

paxx has it... also if you have tried to apply the logon unsuccessfully you may need to navigate to the Wincustomize directory and logons to delete the directy of the logon.
