Internet connection

Since I bought WindowBlinds I no longer have the option of working "offline". That is to say, as soon as Windows starts, my computer automatically connects to the internet! I've tried changing my settings to "Never connect...." but it has no effect. Is this usual?

MouseGoddess...there is an option when installing WB to let it contact Stardock to let them know which skin you are using....a way to determine popularity through actual usage.
This is probably what is making the 'connection'....just change the option and it won't...

Having said that, I can't seem to find the option in my install in XP. Perhaps that was just an old thing way back in WB 1.0....

This is a shot in the dar, but if you say the problem started when you installed window blinds, you can check out the following:
check your start up folder on your start menu and see if window blinds poduct registration is there. Some times products will configure a registration reminder to start up and connect you to the interent so you can register. You can also check "msconfig" by clicking on START, then RUN, then type MSCONFIG in the box. when MSCONFIG opens up, click on the START UP tab and see if there is a WINDOWBLINDS or STARDOCK entry. if so, uncheck it.

Actually, it started when I BOUGHT Windowblinds. It didn't do this while it was in "DEMO"! I guess it's not a BAD thing, just somewhat annoying........Also, I tried the welcome screen program, what is it--First Start? Is that it? Anyway, after I installed it and re-started, my connection speed dropped down, and even though I UN-installed it real quick, it stayed down. Anyone have any ideas on this one?
