Question on Design

Alrighty then. This will probably mainly pointed to the major skinners (the ones that have posted alot). Now, I would like to know how you manage to think of so many designs. Plus how long do you usually stay on a project. Another thing, do you ever make a drawing on paper of your idea? Other people can answer this also. But, I've submited one of my better ideas and it got turned down since it would be better as a Art Poster Which is interesting. But for me to get something on here, I just want to know ideas so I have a direction. I'm used to designing for my site. Which are buttons, banners, etc.

Hey, Usualy i dont make the "master" themes that skins your hole pc, i just work on wallpapers and cursor xp's, sometimes i do a winamp skins or coolplayer and now i am working on a windosmediaplayer skin and my first master theme (with master theme i mean winstyles)
Sometimes i do make a design on paper and work it out, a recent one is availabel at this forum under the thread: tell me what you think about this template.
On a cursor xp i work about 4 hours, a wallpaper 2/3 hours and winamp a day or 2, coolplayer 1 day and desktop X also about 2 days.
You asked how we get this idea's? Don't know most of time i am near to sleeping and then i get this KILLER id, i open my eye's make a quick drawing and try to sleap on, what most of the time dasn't work out, cause i am too curious to work my id out enz enz enz
hope this helped. if you need a design for your site your welcome to use the template

well, ok, if i was you i would begin with cursor xp, gets a lot of downloads and isn't too much work, if you do it in photoshop. for wallpapers just use a program like bryce or 3dsmax.

Thanks... I did make some object Dock items if you haven't seen them.. The biggest thing I saw that people liked was the Firey Chrome and the full Bio-Hazard. And they were my first uploads. I just thought I would go to the next level. But I might not be ready yet. I just got ideas but just can't seem to find a way to put them on the computer. Heck, I can draw it on paper. My bro has one that he's going to have me upload when he's done to see if it passes. But here is my first big try which was told that It's poster Art which I could see. I think I was rushing ideas. But I got a good one that I have designed in head and paper, just have to get it into Bryce which is going to take probably a week or so. Here's my first attempt -> http://weaksid.8m.net/Rev1-8(1024x768).jpg . I actually made the symbol line by line. I couldn't find a shortcut. That was going to be part of my Revelation series but I'm going to keep that for my site then and add it to my scripture Express area. Let me know what you think of that. That was the main thing I wanted to find out.. what people thought. But this next one should be alot better and I think I got the idea behind of what they want

Dang the link.. "http://weaksid.8m.net/Rev1-8(1024x768).jpg" you have to copy and paste.. Sorry. O' and I was ranked #6 one time on the object dock. I got to say that's not bad for just starting this type of stuff. Like I've mentioned, I have only ever made other type of graphics. This is a new approach to graphics. Which will help me out in the long run. Try that and let me know.

Weaksid...browse through the wall section here, and filter by ratings, not downloads.
What many of them will be will be [hmmm sounds wrong but isn't]very complex, layered works made with a combination of Photoshop/PSP and 3D rendering proggies.
All except for Nuvem's work....I'm darned if I can work out exactly HOW Helder manages to do his...

More often than not, rushed, simple creations will hit the cutting room floor.

Don't rely on Bryce or other 3D renderers as their mastery is perhaps even harder than that of Photoshop, but newbies tend to do something like my 'Lost in Bryceworld' and go 'Gee, WOW!' and upload it. [Mine was upped for example, not hits...see the screenshot... https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.asp?library=13&SkinID=1315 ].

There's no 'fast-track' to wall creation success....just practise, practise and lots of experimentation...

Jafo, I understand fully why you didn't accept it. I looked at it over and over and I saw what you saw about the poster Art.

A wallpaper should be able to be formed into a Theme. I understand that.

I also understand about Trial and error. I wasn't putting the judgement or anybody down if you thought I was.

I just wanted some comments on what I did make since it was my second attempt and I used Bryce and Photoshop to design that one.

O', Plus I also remember reading that you guys love details. I'm keeping that in mind also when I create my next one.

Weaksid...no, it's not 'details' but 'detail'....the attention to fine detail, or accuracy...where each graphic component used blends seemlessly with each other.
If a wall is to have 'longevity' on a person's system it has to stand 'close' scrutiny.

There's nothing worse than staring at your screen, composing some invective diatribe and being distracted suddenly with the thought 'damn...that shadow is projected wrong and the text has spelling errors'...
