Coming soon: Stardock TV

So what would you guys think of a short bi-weekly TV show that focuses just on doing cool stuff on the computer? Kind of a video skinning magazine?

What sorts of stuff would you like to see covered?

Is this bi-weekly national TV or something you need cable or satelite to get?

Skinning, skinning and more skinning... Tips, tricks, what's new feature-wise with Stardock products, alpha previews, maybe even some tutorials. Basically I would like to 'see' what you normally post here on Wincustomize in a text and picture format, as a live action feed. I assume it would be broadcast as a .mpeg over the internet?

I guess that leaves us 56k er out.

I'm one of those poor suckers still on 56k dial-up myself. I think if you had an actual public/cable/forum whatever that it would be kind of interesting to see all the faces behind some of the greatest/popular works.

If "stardock TV" came to fruition...I think it would be great to offer this:

Live calls/questions to guest 'skinners' (kinda like c-span for the skin-span).

"Random requests" live which would host a bunch of call-ins from all over (much like c-span) but you would post the recent subject of the day like, "Should we keep trying to make our programs backwards compatible or just finally go full force with XP and beyond"

I'd be VERY interested in seeing where that went.

That would be very cool. Tutorials sound like a great idea. Maybe you could interview some talented skinners or something, or show off the most popular skins (just throwing random ideas around) Anyway, if you made SDTV, id watch it

Me too...I'd be glued to the set...and if you let a few 'idots' dial in then it would bring that much needed humor/human element into play.

Geez, Stardock TV...*dream puff clouds*...

Hmm. Might I remind stardock that I had said name tattoed on my behind...hehe

Just teasin'

Oh Stardock...please listen to me...I'm age 36 even when I say age 33, and if you want a spokesmodel...what better lass than one who already admitted she was an ass? )

How lame... hehe

The problem is...I'd make an okay spokesmodel but seriously...NOT since I'm no skinner.

C'mon you 'skinning' geniuses...this is your chance to become recognized! (I swear the most talented folks here are SO shy)!

Frogboy is offering you a chance...'wot say?

I think this is a great idea. And content, basically anything that will help. I'm already going to The Bibles of like Photoshop, Bryce, Poser, etc. First I need to buy the full version of Object Desktop, but that's not till I get some $$$$. I hate being poor

But I love my 1.5mb/s connection . I only pay half so it doesn't hurt me too much.

Homer sound -"umm, internet"

I'd say go for it, but I would not watch. Three reasons: 1) crap connection; 2) even crapper machine; and most important 3) it would have to be accessable for everyone, I suppose, meaning I'd only see things I already know about or have high "been there, done that" levels.

Could be great stuff for the newbies though. "This week, frogboy explains how you can use WindowBlinds to change your OS's appearance. Also in the studio, the Pixtudio crew, showing off their latest ventures".

Frogboy: sounds cool! Can't wait to see something.

Shmoopy: Streaming is pretty good nowadays, so even on a 56k a video can look decent.

DavidMantle: Interviews would be a bit hard to do, since the skinner would have to be physically in front of the camera.

I really love that idea. Go for it.

guess that´s Jafos´s chance to become the Jerry Falwell of LiteStep

i agree with crae, there would probably not be much interesting stuff for me, but i´m looking forward to watch it.

I think it's a good idea, and would be great geared towards tutorials being able to actually see how it's done rather than read how it's done is the best teacher...
plus it'd be different and something new, so why not?
plus you could use it to focus on all the non static things you can't do here such as showing window fx, and animations and zooms in Desktop X all that kind of stuff...

1) They can show the screen without a cam.. There is a program that allows a person to record what they are doing on the computer.

2) I like Mashi's comment.. Jerry Falwell of litestep , that would be interesting.

3) They could always do two versions Low Bandwidth and High Bandwidth. Which should allow everybody to be able to watch it. Plus a download area.

Another thing "thee who thinks they know everything no nothing"

sounds interesting

perhaps you could show off some of the more interesting and advanced things than can be done with OD.

a lot of DX screen shots arent that informative, so one obvious thing would be to show some of the more complex and advanced desktop replacements in action. that way people can actually see what is going on.

the same sort of idea applies to OB. it has a lot of potential that often isnt tapped. show off some more extream themes, but also show how they work, so they are seen as more than simple eye candy, but as useful and fun things that you to can learn to do on your machine.

I'd certainly watch. It would even be cool to have it playing in the background while I'm working on the puter.

I like Weaksid's idea about the high/low bandwidth versions...

If this comes to fruition I'm sure a lot of people would tune in and the word would spread fast.

I have no idea who 'Jerry Falwell' is...he must only be a legend in his own Lunch-time...but I think I'd rather have moshi or Phar0e as 'experts on LiteSTEP'...cos I've been doing it long enough to know I'm no 'expert'....
