Patents no longer acquired by takeover?

It seems that one no longer gets the patents the other corps had by buying them out.

It proved to be a very important little thing, on a volcanic map, where all the water got nuked, and when I brought out the person who had slant drilling, in an effort to slant drill more water, I discovered I could not slant drill. much sad was had. and the price of water went though the roof.

(though, it also seems now we no longer 'know' what the colony is doing... that info was kinda nice. I assume you all have a nice implementation for it in mind? perhaps it would also be interesting to know it's consumption rates of the resources as well?)

Yeah. They removed it in attempt to reduce the stacking effect of buying someone out.

Also. is anyone not totally digging the new scan sound effects?  They seem... dissonant. Gotta I > V > vi > IV that stuff, if you know what I mean.

Working on the new scan sound effect. I'll implement a new version of it on Monday, you guys should get it sometime later in the week.

Thanks for the feedback!

End of Pbhead's quote

Agree on this, they seem a little over done and the fact that they are different for some pings seems strange.

I'd also like to see what the colony is doing and how it's effecting demand...

Another small little item (not new).  The "next colony gets..." message you see before you found your colony is cut off by the interface..

I don't like it. When I found that a company is researching patents, they became the guy that I would try to buy out so that I could get their patents. If I could buy the company out to get their assets, so why not their patents? It makes them worth going after, much like how you might want to go after the guy with geothermal power plants, or several high resource deposits.

Well, if you can't buy a company out to get their patents, could we at least get the patents to be freed up so they can researched again? I don't like the idea that I have to be first to research a patent because otherwise I could never get the patent.
