Anybody ever thought about teaching?

Just passing the thought by you guys. Some time in the near future I will be speaking to the Dean of Electronic Design and Multimedia department about adding a class for understanding skinning.

While I do belive there will only be a few sucess stories of people who skin for a living, being able to skin will be a great asset to other skill like web advertising, Website design, and IT consulting for firms who want the whole package including thier own look for thier PC.

Anybody thought about teaching skinning?

lol, no I've never thought about teaching skinning. I'd be living in a box within a month.

I have applied to be a substitute teacher and a reading mentor for the kids in our community. I would love to teach young kids how to use computers and how to read.

About 7 years ago I was actually thinking of becoming an IT-teacher (seriously), but the fact that I had to spend between 8 and 10 years on education first, kinda made me ditch that thought pretty quickly....

If the course was set up as an "on-line" class, you would broaden the base of potential teachers. Put together an outline for a curriculam and look for experts in the community to contribute. You might want to check out http://www.microsoft.com/mspress/books/6234.asp which has some chapters on customization.

Note to Werewolf: That is wonderful! I hope that you are accepted and get a chance to teach. When I worked as a consultant, I also served as a substitute teacher. It was a very rewarding experience. I still teach Sunday school.

Hey thanks! The on-line idea seams to be a cool idea.

@ werewolf - hey I am volenteering at the South Street Seaport for tours for kids and adults. In some ways I'll be teaching Architecture to kids (and adults). It will be fun!

I have been considering going back to school and getting a Masters in design so I can teach at the Collage level. But I don’t ever seem to have the time to take the classes, (I need about 4 years of them) but Teaching is always something I wished I could do. Maybe some day I can teach at a trade school or such. For now I will just stick to the day job, freelance work and skinning the rest of the time.
