hmmm... that doesn't go away... but I lost that too when I upgraded mine... windows just resets it... just went back through and tried to see how I did it.. can't remember... I thought it was under system properties... advanced.. then the performance tab... but I can't find it... but basically you have to turn it off then back on for crazy reason... I don't understand it but... maybe someone does...

found it... you have to enable the drop shadows... if they are disabled... if not disable them hit apply... then enable them and hit apply ... that was an easy one... ask me another

but it didn't work! Strange things are happening, the icon text labels are grey, which is the skin overall colour (I'm using chosenOS) but the desktop colour is black. Also I've had to open and close desktop properties several times, because I lose the wallpaper, it comes back after the third or fourth time I click OK. I've tried just about everything I know, short of a rollback, naturally I'm loath to go that far yet, anyway that's too easy any other suggestions?

One thing you want to do is right click your desktop->properties->appearance->windowblinds->settings and uncheck 'apply the skins colour scheme' and uncheck 'apply any wallpaper supplied'. Now it will not interfere when changing your desktop colour.

See if that helps.

Hi Al, I've done that, here's how things stand at present; I uninstalled windowblinds and cursorXP and rebooted. Made the desktop vanilla XP, then re-installed windowblinds and cursorXP and tried again, with the suggestion given previously, I unchecked all desktop enhancements and then rechecked them...Everything worked until I tried to install a new skin, then back to the start At the moment I've got a vanilla XP theme (in silver) and I've tweaked one of the installed graphics so it looks pretty good, but I want my windowblinds back

I think I got it... you need to disable active desktop.. right click on your --> arange icons ---> show web content.... make sure show web content is disables... im sure that is your problem... because even though you set the icon transperency it won't work on mine with active desktop enabled... and active desktop always messes up the wallpapers... not quite like that for me.. but everytime I reboot it will flash my previous wallpaper before it shows my new one... when active desktop is running of course... hope this info helps ( Hope it solves your problem actually) I have no idea about cursor xp... except that it has problems with alot of applications... like quick time, and anything alpa blended... like in desktop x your cursor will sometimes be behind a highlighted object... hmmmm but I don't know why it would just not work...

hi da_zman, I know that the graphics display is working in 32bit, 'cause I can still get transparent move window, etc; I've trawled through the registry and apparently all switches are on for "icon text labels", ie; drop shadow, etc; I can't find anything in the registry that can be causing this problem, but what do I know? I've tried your suggestion and nothing changed. You may be interesed in what I have been up doing: 1, rollback graphic driver, no change. 2, un-install graphic changing software(windowblinds), no change. Clean registry, no change. trawl through registry, can't find anything wrong, but I can only look at reg values that return 0 or 1, true or false, when it comes down to looking at coded values I'm lost, no change. It seems to be one of those things. What I'm looking at now is a rollback to a time I know is safe, I don't like doing this I much prefer working problems out, this is a steeper leaning curve but much better than just giving uo. Don't you agree?
