Which version are you using? 2.81 or the beta of 3.0?

Anyway, the procedure is basically the same for both versions. Please read the FAQ at

If you are using SkinBrowser to download your skins and themes, do this, when your download completes, right click your file and choose install. A box will come up telling you it was installed correctly. Open up NextStart. and choose the theme you downloaded.

My brother had that problem. I suggested an Uninstall - Re-Install and it worked!

What themes cause this error and what NextSTART version are you using? My guess is that you are using version 2.81 and you are trying to apply some of the newest NextSTART 3.0 themes. There was a bug in public beta 2 of v3 that caused themes made with it to crash v2.x. The bug has been solved, but you probably have to re-download the theme from here (most of the problematic themes have already been updated - check their description).
