A interesting question for the Taskbar :)

My problem -> How can I get the taskbar to accept my change to filter?

Like shrink the system tray after 5mins if a program isn't used. I got it to work once but my computer went on a fritz and when I tried again since I had to reboot it didn't take it. The bar I'm using doesn't have that option activated to start out with. Any suggestions or questions about my issue?

I'm assuming you're using XP......... go to Taskbar Properties, and check "Hide inactive icons" That's if you're using the Window Taskbar.......... you really didn't say............

My task bar for window's is fine.. It's the bottom bar of Pixtudio by Alex. It's made not to do that. I had it work for a little bit till my computer crashed than it didn't want to do it anymore.

Well, what I tried didn't work

So, I'm up to any suggestions.

I tried unloading and reloading the bar than trying again.

Weaksid:

1) Right click on your Systray -> select properties -> click on the behavior tab.

This is where you set the autohide feature to give it that contracting XP style systray.

2) Check the enable filtering box and then click on the enable filtering button

This area is where you define what systray icons are shown and for how long before they become "hidden". I think the default is 5 minutes.

3) Check the automatically re-contract the tray when not in use box. Once unhidden this option will set the systray to re-hide the icons if they are not clicked.

4) Define your systray expand/contract button images. You have a state and an image path that you can set.

I hope this helps.

Dang, all the settings were set, no images.. But I put the images of arrows and they didn't come up. This sucks.. I wonder what happened. It was working.

Well, I just got to say forget it.. My whole desktop went fruggley. I think I'm going to start from scratch and design my own. I might get better luck out of it. I did have a nice edit though ... I found out that DesktopX causes issues with Direct Connect so I have to find ways around that.

Hey, for those that get this same problem.. I finally found the problem with this.. You need to replace msvcr70.dll in your windows\system folder. Than reinstall DesktopX

Woohoo , less than 24hours to solve.

I'm getting better at troubleshooting. Dang ducks ~Bang Bang~
