Downloading Desktop Themes

Downloading Desktop Themes

I'm new to this site, and i've signed up and tried to download 2 of the desktop themes, but nothing happens. Is there a special procedure you have to go through or am I missing something?

I hate to sound *snooty* or give a feeling of "us" and "them"...after all...WC wants to invite "them" to become "us" (following me? he-he) but paying a few bucks for some great stuff isn't too much to ask for a website that updates constantly...is very sophisticated (heck, my website was kindygarten compared to this place) and also, if you contribute to WC you actually *can* become an Apprentice etc. without having to purchase...but that's usually not applicable to the average newbie who visits here...

BUT... just so you all know...you are all welcome here...but fair is fair and ya'll shouldn't be hoggin' resources from us payin' folk. So join and be one of the few, the proud, the WC army of one...and one for all.

HELP! I am new to object desktop and am having a few problems. When I click the download button to download a theme it downloads and then says, would you like to apply the suite and then when I click yes, it says I am not connected to the internet, and so I can't get the theme. I don't know what to do, or what to check to see what is causing this???

I am also having a problem downloading other things. When I click the download button the download thing comes up and it just automatically starts downloading instead of asking me where I want to save the download to and saves it to the temporary internet folder and I don't want it there.

If someone could help me, I would sure appreciate it!

Try 'right click' 'save target as' that will allow you to put the download where you want

Thanks Fuzzy Logic! Never thought to try that... Now I hope I can figure out how to fix my other problem lol...

Boy I feel a bit embarrassed, I just realized I should of created a new thread for my question instead of posting it as a reply to someone elses question lol...Oh well, I guess you live and learn huh???

Thanks again Fuzzy, at least someone was looking out for newbies.

Download Limit
Why can't I download more than 100MB of stuff from here?

Actually its 150MB. As WinCustomize has become more and more popular the
number of downloads that occur daily has risen dramatically. This has
caused a significant increase in Bandwidth costs for the site. And
bandwidth usage continues to rise. In an attempt to recover some of this
cost we began selling some merchandise on WinCustomize. But the amount of
merchandise being sold still did not even come close to paying for the
bandwidth costs let alone the rest of the operating costs that are incurred.
Then we began offering Subscriptions with additional benefits as way for
patrons of WinCustomize to help offset those costs even more. However, this
still was not covering the bandwidth costs. So what do we do next? We
either need to increase sales or decrease bandwidth? So the next step we
tried was to do both by putting a cap on they amount of data you can
download from WinCustomize for NON-PAYING visitors. If you have purchased
"Any Product" from Stardock or WinCustomize or if you have purchased a
WinCustomize Subscription you are provided with the benefit of Unlimited
Downloads. We encourage people to try before they buy. That is why all
Stardock Software is available as shareware. To try out all the software
you will want to download skins from WinCustomize so we need to make
downloads available for free. But we also need to place a limit on
downloads to help control the Bandwidth costs. So how much should we allow.
We ran some queries and decided that most people had downloaded less that
25MB's from WinCustomize. So realistically 25MB's is what most people would
need to try out our software. But we did not want to push people away from
WinCustomize either. So we decided to be generous and set the cap fairly
high. We decided on 150MB. Once you have downloaded 150MB you are
requested to purchase a subscription to WinCustomize or at least purchase
the Product in which you are using the skins with.

There IS a set limit. It's 100 megs of stuff. A few ways to alleviate the 100 meg limit.

1. Participate on wincustomize by hanging out on the boards and helping folks out. Comment on various skins.

2. Get a wincustomize subscription (20 bucks for 2 years)

3. Purchase a stardock product (Windowblinds, DesktopX, Object Desktop...)

If you're getting dissed in the downloads and you haven't downloaded 100 megs of stuff, then something's not right. In which case, I don't know what the problem could be.

Crap. My post is wrong and already addressed in previous posts. I'm still not used to the new board functionality of going to the next page of posts. Completely overlooked them. Oh well.
