New Year Resolutions... ???

Hi.
What is your New Year Resolution and how long do you think it will last?

I'd like to have the honour of going first. Let me see:

Lose some weight? Nah. That won't last a minute, will be broken by 12:01 a.m. January 1st, 2003

Maybe, learn to prepare better wallpapers and be one of the top authors... Maybe next year.

Start using Bryce, that would warm the cockles of JM's heart, wouldn't it JM?

Here goes nothing.

My New Year resolution is to be more responsive to the comments on this site. I'd post one response to every comment I get.
Howzzat??

Season's Greetings to all!!!

Good luck, never happen. You would have to be on the puter 24/7 and thats impossible. Well that one is broken.

I am planning to paint 1 or 2 masterworks in oils. Flowers observations and where I think we are heading to

I didn't mean these comments WOM, I meant the one that I get on my wallpapers.

Also, the resolution doesn't start until the 1st of Jan, and New Year resolutions are meant to be broken

And Lecrayon, good resolutions, if I may say so. But why are you so sad about where are you heading to?

Lecrayon, if you have any of your concepts for your oil paintings in a computer-based form, I would LOVE to see them!

If not, please send me pictures afterwards.

Let me share a positive thought, perhaps appropriate for this time of year. The problems that we face, war, hunger, poverty, disease, have been around forever. But our ability to solve them has never been greater!

Peace.

I see it Lecrayon, wonderful piece of art. Sad though, that in this season of cheer you adorn your desktop with a wallpaper as creepy as that!!! [no disrespect intended] The colours are beautiful, really but spell darkness...

You flatter me Koop, I will think of you. Ashu, I think we are heading that way. Back to the times of Vietnam and dividing countries. Chechnya to the Russians and Iraq to the Americans plus allies. (Grozny looks like Berlin after ww2) The current time reminds me also of the Yalta agreements. There is too much hatred preached today, we should love and nourish our cultures and our native lands, we should stay away from greed and grabbing money. People scuffolded me here about painting flowers, so I painted a few horrors to show what is happening today, and look how they react. We should admire our surroundings and bring joy in our hearts. Look at all the naive children that are taught to hate neighbours, even I have been indoctrined with hating Germans when I was young. I happen to like them though but sometimes it still conflicts with my youth. So that is my plea for all times, that we love our neighbours and cooporate and help each other unconditionally, without looking at race or religion or culture. And I will paint flowers.

I sure hope that your dreams come true Lecrayon.
But the conflicts you are talking about have been inherited from our forefathers. Generations of hate and discrimination cannot be wiped out in a day, month, year, decade or even a century. To achieve the kind of world you are dreaming about my friend may take another millennium, atleast. The only thing we can hope for is that the present generation does not start another conflict and leave a disaster trail for the yet unborn. And not propogate and stoke anger in the name of nationalism, religion or as in the case of the USA, fear of losing the 'American way of life'.
But maybe even you should forget reality and rejoice in the festivities. Even if for a week, people show that they haven't lost what is called 'humanity'.
Enjoy the day, my friend, and I hope that the day that you paint flowers will come in your lifetime and mine.

Jacob, hate and war have always been with us. Picasso painted Guernica in 1937.

But...until recently a man in the Netherlands and a man in America couldn't exchange thoughts and images over the internet. When we do exchange those thoughts, we learn that we have more in common than is different. It is hard to hate someone that you chat with.

To teach hate, you must first teach abstraction. It is easier to hate a race or a people than to hate one person that you know. Before modern communications, how many people could you know? And how far away from you could they live? Could any of them say "Look at my desktop?"

That is progress.

Correctomundo koop!!! My sentiments exactly.
We tend to hate people who are different than us, who tend to destroy our way of life, our beliefs. But the advancement in technology has shown us that people all over the world have more or less the same needs, dreams and aspirations. The percentage of similarity is higher than dissimilarity, the common denominator has moved up several notches due to technology.
Maybe, we can look forward to a conflict-free future, i.e. a future where there are no haves and have-nots.

Lecrayon, No one person can take on their shoulders all the problems on the planet, not feasiable. Just do good in your little neck of the woods, if everyone did that - who knows??. Otherwise you are going to have blood flowing through all of your Skins and Paintings and you will end up cutting your ear off. SMILE and the whole world smiles with you. Change that desktop this minute.

But there are somethings i've got to do; upload some of my windows mediaplayer skins, and keep on learning for the java, and maki and xml, maybe bring out my blacklight windowblinds skin... (no sleeping again...) and getting my site online.
