folder portals keep defaulting to details view

since updating to 2.13 all my desktop portals keep being shown in the details view. whenever i change it back to another type of view and restart my machine it reverts back to details view... has been working fine. I did run CC cleaner recently and im worried i have deleted a setting file in the registry or something... reinstalling doesnt fix it... going to try an older version too.
