Can someone....

Hello

I am new at this and I have a lot of questions. Is there anyone out there that might have the time to answer a few for me?

I look at all the skins and I see like 100 little box icons on the task bar? And I can not seem to get every thing to run right?

Is there something I could read a book? Someone with a little time to help me out maybe?

Maybe I do not have my hard drives and Partitions set up just right?

any help or time that some one might beable to give or help me I would really be thank full to them....Or point me in the right direction

This is a good place to get help. First of all, what skins for what application are you trying to load?

None of the applications require that you do anything special with your partitions or your hard drives. All that you should need is the application needed to apply a particular skin. A link for the application is posted at the top of the skin section. To run a WindowBlinds skin, for example, you will need WindowBlinds. Some applications are operating system specific, like CursorXP that requires Windows 2000 or XP. There are free versions of most applications available.

The reason that many of the screenshots show "100 little box icons on the task bar" is that the artist that took the screenshot had a 100 applications open at the time. Power users!

Once you have the application(s) that you need to run the skin installed, I recommend that you get the WinCustomize browser also. Again a free version is available. It makes downloading and applying the skin very easy.

I think the "100 little box icons" might be the quicklaunch icons. If you wish to enable this feature, just right click on your taskbar, choose "properties" from the menu, click on the "taskbar" tab, and then make sure the box labelled "show quick launch" is checked. This will display icons on your taskbar. I prefer it to having them on the desktop. You can drag the shortcuts on your desktop to the quicklaunch area, and they will appear on the taskbar. Once you have them in quicklaunch, you can delete them from the desktop by right clicking each icon and choosing delete from the menu.

And don't forget to read the Frequently Asked Questions link at the top of the board. It's not complete yet, but still a good read.
