Weird Pop Up When I came to the Site - Virus????

Never seen this before............but as the front page of WC was loading for me a few minutes ago the pop-up in the link below came up.

Needless to say it is very very suspicious

Really.........did they really think I'd fall for that install/update a video HD Player..........but the webpage does look similar to an Adobe design.

DO NOT CLICK ON THE LINK and DO NOT CLICK "INSTALL NOW"..........I REPEAT DO NOT CLICK ON THE LINK and DO NOT CLICK "INSTALL NOW".

h t t p ://software-updates.org/video-player/agg/var1/download-update.php?cid=u6b02ff595457a706261d5f06f9&subid2=adcash&subid3=white

I'm putting this up on the forums just in case anyone else gets the same pop up to warn and protect them.........and to also let the team at Stardock investigate just in case someone is hacking the WC website.

Not sure what/where that's coming from [I haven't seen it] ...but I 'broke' the above link so as to not have anyone inadvertently hit it...;)

Just mentioning that running you AV and malware might be a good idea.

LEO were you logged in when this came up?

Leo, did you install any new software recently? Something might have crept in with that, or been "wrapped" with it.

In any case I strongly suggest you scan at MS's http://www.herdprotect.com/index.aspx .

You download the scanning app and then receive a report utilizing something like 27 viral/malware scanners. Then you can search what's the best way to remove it, if it's there.

But by ALL means, scan your system.

Nope I was not logged in and it came up when WC loaded on my browser.

System check with Malwarebytes and NIS..........all clean.

No recent software downloaded or installed.

Has not happened on this site or any other site either before or after.

Using latest Chrome 64bit browser.

Also on 2nd visit, later that night, again not logged in, one of the advertising banners - some sort of farm game - popped up full screen.

Weird............

I have had this happen before when not logged in one of the in page ads loads first and then resizes and appears in the page when it fully loaded

I've been checking and haven't found any issues.  We don't have popup ads, the only thing that might be close is the interstitial ad that appears when a campaign is available when visiting the homepage when not logged in.
