Importing Windowblind skins to Object Bar

Has anyone had problems importing windowblinds files for some of the skins here? And have they found that the skin seems out of control for the task bar and other areas?

I think its just me but wondering if any one else has the problem and fixed it.

Any object bar experts out there?

I'm not an Object Bar expert, but I know what the problem is. It's to do with how the margins are set in the WB skin. I've noticed on some of my skins using Object Bar part of the Start Panel Bottom Bar is white instead of skinned. The skinned bit corresponds to the margin I set in WB. Of course, it looks fine in XP, but if you're using 98...

I'm updating my skins now even though the majority of people are using XP. I use 98 at work and it is annoying. Maybe you can persuade other authors to do the same, or do the tweaks yourself in Skinstudio.

Hold that thought... I've just spent the last two hours looking at this with no success. Will keep going till it's fixed...

Joe,

It's been that way since that feature was added. Some WB skins import flawlessly and look great, other's don't.

Some of the little bits on ObjectBar don't respect the skin studio settings. Tiling/Stretching is a big one. I've seen this on the 'all programs' area and the area where 'turn off computer' and 'logoff' are. No matter what you set those to in SS, the graphics get messed up. Also, I think that .tga files for some of the startpanel and taskbar areas don't get imported correctly. This is on win2k using the 'use windowblinds' setting in OB.

Essorant has some great skins that import almost perfectley to an objectbar theme. Try checking his wb themes out.

Strange! I've compared a skin that works to one that doesn't. There is no difference in any of the skin settings I can see. The bitmaps are similar sizes. This is damned peculiar.

Skins that I've made for windowblinds and then used via ObjectBar (because I lack XP, and want to see how the Start Menu comes out) generally have tiling/stretching problems, particularly on the horizontal axis. For these, I generally have to use SkinStudio to tweak the resultant ObjectBar *.obskin file, and it works fine after that. Works excellently with other people's skins, so far. I can't figure out for the life of me why this is! (but I'll still continue to use it).
