Well..today, Saturday, it only got to about 37 [C]...but I went out on the bike, anyway...
About 70 or 80 K...and a good thing I did, too....
I didn't get heat-stroke....[race officials are a hardy lot], but I
DID find a guy 3 or 4 K from nowhere who had collapsed unconscious on the bike track.
God he took a heck of a lot of reviving...I'm betting another hour or so and he would have been turning up his toes.
Stuff-all pulse....couldn't tell he was breathing....turned out he'd been having the odd beer or three and heat and alcohol do
NOT mix.
So, thanks to me, there is some Asian family possibly enjoying their Xmas holidays with their 18 year old 'Steve'.
My first thought was he was some naive Japanese tourist out discovering our hot, brown land...till I managed to get his lights back on and hear him talking....as Aussie as they come, but just stupid with the grog...
