I personally use 1024x768 cause Im not blind to use 800x600 or less and Im not Superman with the perfect eyes and view to use 1280x1024. I find 1280x1024 to small for anyone.

But is only an opinion of mine, everyone should do what its good or cool to feed their likes or taste

It has been my observation throughout this entire thread that the two most common resolutions used by people on this site are 1024 and 1280... which corresponds to what I believed to be true when I started the thread.
Thanks to everyone for your invaluable input, I appreciate you all taking the time to respond to what may have seemed like a trivial question to some, but had meaning for me.

You don't need the parentheses, I only included them because it wouldn't display without giving my name instead of the (/me) I was trying to show you....

1) 1600x1200 on a 17". Used to be 1600x1200+1024x768, but I disconnected my second screen and hooked my machine up with my tv instead. /me plays games and movies on his tv now (whee!!)

2) What the hell is Styl trying?

Since I still have a 15 and 17 inch monitors, I still use the 800 x 600, if I go any higher it makes alot of items hard to read. I find that I can resize many of the higher resolutions back to 800 x 600 and there is no real problem, the only thing I've seen so far are the animated walls for desktop X that I can't use and haven't managed a way resize (yet)and this is a big disappointment. As Hell Dragon pointed out, their poll shows that 800 x 600 is still used most and the 1024 x 768 comes in a very close second. I personally have decided that its more important upgrading my computer itself and since I have a flat screen monitor, I plan to use it until I have to buy another.

1600 x 1200 on 1 PC monitor, 1600 x 1200 on another PC monitor, and 1920 x 1200 on my mac display. Mylaptop is like 1440 x something, can't remember what the second part is.

Though for my 1600 x 1200 res monitors i use large icons. So they have the appearance of about 1/3 bigger. Less Squinting. On the mac display i use huge icons cuz they look so damn good but i still get the benefit of a large desktop to work with.

There is a rather large delay sometimes when you press the submit button...

1024x768 on 17 inch

I'd probably use bigger, but dad can't see anything above 1024 clearly, but I'll live.

Anyway, it's not like I lie awake at night wondering what the world would be like if I had a different resolution anyway, so I'm not too worried about it.

Ryan that's funny. I went to my dad's house a long time ago when he first got his 21 inch Dell monitor and his res was at 800 x 600. I was like man what a waste of desktop space. People don't seem to realize the difference between 800x 600 and 1024 x 768 is incredible when you get the extra space for the higher res and it's not so bad on the eyes. Anyone with a 21 inch not using 1600 x 1200 is just wasting their potential for desktop space.

That was very well put, I agree wholeheartedly.....
