What is your preferred screen resolution?

Yes it was a poll not long ago, and recently was a messgaeboard thread.

I would prefer 1600x1200, but I can't go there, so I settle for 1280x1024.

....but Koasati always sends me nice 800 by 600 files.....that is what I use

I know I am in the dark ages with the rest of the community of skinners!

What I really want to know is whether it is necessary to include 800 x 600 resolution files in my zips...
Do a large proportion of people still use that resolution and look for that size included in a wallpaper zip before they consider downloading it?

1280x1024 preferred, but 1152x864 works quite nicely too.

Used to be 1280x1024 but now (new graphics card and new monitor!) I prefer 1600x1200, not many that size around and 'stretching' never looks right too my eye.

I have a hard time with 1280x1024, much less 1600x1200... you must have awfully good eyesight wombat_1!

With a 17" monitor, I prefer 1280x1024. I don't lke anything less than this.

1280 x 1024 on a 19" monitor

15" monitor 1024 x 768.

I have a 17in monitor, and I go with 1024x768. I would go with 1152x864, but my monitor won't support it. I would go even higher to 1280x1024, but my monitor will only refresh at 60Hz, which is horrible. So... I'm stuck at 1024x768...

Ms X doesn't realize how much more desktop space she could have with at least 1024.
But I'll continue to send 800x600 files until you bite the bullet!

Seriously though K, my visitors are not as sophisticated as here. I recently looked into it and most (51%) still use 800 x 600, the next size up was at 35%, and then the rest are dispersed into a lot of other sizes.

But I can bet,here, that the majority would not use 800 x 600, they would have your tendencies.

It's basically the accumulated logs for all the visitors who accessed a 'thecounter.com' counter in the month of Nov'02.

There were 348 million people who accessed the counter that month so you can assume it's a pretty accurate view on the resolutions used out there - and I bet your might be a little surprised at the top one

Of course that's just the average surfer... skinners, graphic artists and gamers are bound to use higher resolutions, but still it gives you a good idea of the 'real' picture out there - instead of just people who participate in polls and messageboards

Those figures are close to my own atats, and I am not suprised.

I do appreciate this link supporting the resolution I make my pages at! I make them for the majority, and when that changes, I will change too.

No reason to cave in to the pressure, because there IS no pressure....

I have a feeling that soon the stats will change or even out with higher resolutions soon, then I will too. I do need to give in to the majority at this time, though. I wouldn't call it vindication, I suppose its just paying attention to who the majority of the visitors are. Your suggestion in the other post, made me take a look though, and be certain. That is always a good thing!

You can never have too much information, it's the only way to make an unbiased decision.

1280x1024 19"

Just fit. No problem to see what´s on the screen. 1600x1200 is to small even for a 19" and properly unhealthy for the eyes. 800x600 to clumbsy and big, there is no working space at that resolution IMHO.

1280x1024 id say is perfect for 19 inch and if you want 1600x1200 id say 21 inch best fits that. I was trying to get 21 inch but it costs £622 for it, as it was only £220 for this 19 inch.

Tho i really had to get this 19 inch as my 17 inch blew up :/

My monitor is set at 1280x1024

However, I prefer to download wallpapers made at 1024x768 because I have a dial up connection and the marginal improvement in quality for matching image to size to resolution size is minute.

It wasn't very long ago that I switched from 800x600, first to 1024 and then to 1152 where I am now.
I also have a 19" monitor and I like the additional room that the higher resolution gives you.
