Tips & Suggestions for new players.

General tips and suggestions for new players.

General Play:

- After playing the tutorials, consider sticking with 1 colony type while you become comfortable with the mechanics. Each type plays different enough from the others that switching among them can create additional confusion

- Learn the resource flow: Consumption and the Building/upgrade costs. What will you/opponents need to produce/buy to get what you want?

- Observe opponents. The AI does provide a good solid blueprint for playing.

- Turn buildings and/or Shipping on/off as necessary. Even scrap them for a building that produces something of more value.  Energy = $$.

- Be aggressive with your money/debt.

- Use the market, Arbitrage. Plan ahead. Buy what you’ll need before it becomes expensive. Stock up during surpluses. Sometimes it’s cheaper to buy than produce. Sometimes outputs cost less than the inputs.

- Money now is more valuable than later. If money/resources are sitting around unused, and unplanned for, convert it and put it to use.

Resource Specific:

- Learn the causes and effects that affect the supply and demand. What colony types are there? What resources will they use? (scavenger à carbon, Robotic & steel). Resources generally follow the same usage patterns, although bizarre things can happen, but even those have a cause.

- Structure your production so that it leads efficiently into secondary production. Eg. Scavenger à carbon à chemicals.

- Avoid overproduction. The price easily gets driven down to nothing. Claims/energy gets wasted producing resources that will sit idle or sell for nothing. Overproduction makes it cheaper on the market for opponents to buy.

Have fun and don’t get discouraged. Ask questions if you are struggling with something. There is a lot of information to process, but it will get easier.
