LiteStep

Is there a definitive manual for LiteStep? I realize there are endless possibilities but I would like to take the time to check them all out and was wondering if there is such a thing as a "step-by-step" guide. Thanks.

JAFO!! Someone needs your help in here!! I could have helped you myself at one time, but I haven't used Litestep for about a year now, maybe longer (I discovered DesktopX!).
I did like Litestep, but I found myself spending more time fiddling with the step.rc than actually creating anything. The step.rc can look a little daunting at first, but once you get the hang of it, it all makes complete sense. I'm afraid I don't know anything about the new OTS standard, that arrived after I departed the scene.
The best place for Litestep stuff is the various Litestep sites, Have you been to any of them?
Just type "Litestep" into any search engine and you will find what you need.
Have fun!

Thanks, BoXXi. Are you saying you prefer DesktopX over LiteStep?

Well...... yes, I guess so. I just find it easier to put together themes in DX. and it has some cool features. Remember though, Litestep is free, DX isn't. You can get a trial version to see if you like it or not, but by all means try both. There are some differences in the way they work, for example: Litestep is a shell replacement, which means it completely replaces Explorer.exe, the windows component that controls your desktop and various other things. DesktopX is a shell enhancer it just sits over your existing desktop, and makes it look and work however you want it to.
Both are cool, you decide which one suits you.
I hope this helps.

I already have DesktopX and I have just recently installed LiteStep. I guess this means I don't need both! I installed LiteStep originally because "everybody" says it's the best. Guess I'll just have to experiment.

litestep doesnt havea definitive manual but it does have instructions, themes are built apon madules which come with documentation and tells how to use them, go to litestep.com and check out some modules and what they can do, thats the abilitie of LS, to not go by the standard

Try messing with some basic looking themes and how they are made and than learn to make ones to suit u. GL email me if you need any more help [email protected]
