HoverWeather!

Is anybody having a problem with HoverWeathers American weather url's from Yahoo? All the other places are fine but when I try Texas or Arkasas, I get wierd text info. No partly cloudy or High temps, not even a time stamp on when the weather was taken. Just the low for today and a image of a cloud

Any body know how to fix it?

I've tried without success. I don't think much of it.

Hi Joetheblow,

I'm seeing this too since two days. I'm trying to get the weather in Holland and in Venezuela and both gives strange values and signes since 2 days.

Mabye a problem at Yahoo?

Chris

I think Yahoo! simply adjusted the coding of the webpages to prevent others (i.e. HoverWeather) from stealing their information.

We'll just have to wait for HoverWeather to release an update to correctly read the new information.

Hmm, what's odd is that the forecast part works ok (click on where the time should be and it will show the forecast for tomorrow)

The text says "your stealing",nice of them,,eh?The work around iz to use one of the default cities overseas to get the url of the city you want dispalyed.I think itz a french site so the temps are in Celsius and so iz the language. But it does work. Those are really nice people over there at YahooWeather,eh?So click on that Paris window and copy/paste from that site.Lets keep those HW up and running!!One step ahead.

Ok, maybe because I'm not awake enough or something, but I can't get it to *start* in any other place but the US. www.weather.yahoo.com opens in the US and when I go to someplace overseas, I just get their weather. How do I get to a French yahoo site to look at US cities? Thanks.

Werewolf:you might need to reinstall. The default cities that came loaded on HW looked at that site.So upon re-installation click on one of the overseas cities windows to gather/copy/paste your choices for cities.Don't forget the site is french,I think, but is fairly easy to discern.

Thanks Brazil.

After dumping all my temp files and cookies, I used IE to go to weather.yahoo.com and still can't get it to go to the French Yahoo site. I can get the weather in France. Is the French URL different?

yes I'm sure itz a different url.The reinstall iz easy. You will not lose any of your skinz, just the cities will return to the default. There you can click any of the non-US cities weather window to get to that site.

The French URL is http://fr.weather.yahoo.com/

Then click on Amérique du Nord and États-Unis. A list of US cities will then be available.

Unfortunately, most of the US cities I was looking for are not listed.

That found a few more... apparently in the Carribean nation of Florida, but many were still not available. For example, neither Gainesville, FL nor Austin, TX seemed to be available.

And, of course, the information is in French. I can get the temps in degrees F (just click the option in the top right of the web pages), but I still don't understand what nuageux means? (Cloudy?)

I think this was one of the funnier threads I seen in a while. I was wondering what was in red and looked like text where the tempeture should be. Now I know what it says. Your stealling!!

Unbelievable. I wonder how much bandwidth does a few lines of code cost that is updated about every 10 minutes. I am seriously thinking about having weather on my site so programs like this can have a real syable way of getting weather and stock numbers.

I do wonder how much it costs.
