[Question] Blackholes...

I think it is known that we will be able to destroy stars... my question falls onto other things.

If we destroy stars I'm assuming we transform a star to a black hole. Does the black hole retain the name of the star?

On a second thought, will black holes be able to be named, or have names attached to them like stars. If they do have names or you decide to name them, will our named stars be allowed on the black holes?

Will black holes be studied by special star-bases after sufficient research down the tree?

They will be features on the map. Likely they will have names and designations like MC48b or Corellian vortex. Their effects as yet are not know in Alpha. They could do anything.

Where did you get that from? Based on what's stated in the databanks and on what the devs said so far, there is a very good chance, that the Terror Stars won't be in the base game. So how are we supposed to destroy stars?

Destroying stars doesn't necessarily create black holes.

In one of the dev streams Paul offhandedly mentioned that black holes are places were "you just can't go there, you have to go around them." So i'm assuming they are just unpassable terrain, but hoping for a bit more then just that.

It could be my imagination, but I thought they mentioned that the ability to destroy stars was going to be in an expansion. I think it was in one of the early streams.

I also suspected this would be the case since this ability to destroy star systems has been around since Gal Civ 1 and Gal Civ 2.

I'd need to re-watch the dev streams, but I think I recall something like that. In all likelihood, they were referring to the Terror Star, because I doubt, that the devs will add another mechanic to destroy star systems.

The means to do that in both games was the Terror Star. However, it's been made pretty clear in the databanks, that the plans to create TS have been destroyed by the Thalan. This makes it unlikely that we'll see the TS in the base game. When I asked about it, Frogboy reinforced my suspicion (though it's still possible, that I misunderstood what he meant).

I'd trust your memory over mine on these matters.
