Many of the newer icons here use 32 bit alpha blending, which is only supported in XP. They will not look right on older versions of Windows. If you are using XP, make sure you have your system color depth set to 32bit.

That's a shame though.
An ico file can include icons for many sizes and colors depths. It would be sad if icon makers don't include non-XP icons anymore. But oh well...

my color depth is 32bit all icons are alpha blended and designed for mac os which i converted for winXP
the icons itself has icons from 16/2 mono till 128x128WinXP

the prob is, that when i use the icons inside a folder i get the icon with the black background (on miniature view) .
if i use the same icon on desktop i get the icon with transparent background...

This is 'normal' behaviour on minuature view in XP. The shadows are shown as black.

I don't know what you mean by minuature view, but for the record, my color depth is 24bit, and I have no trouble with XP icons.

That's only if You switch the folder appearance to miniature view in explorer. Icons-files contained in that folder show as described above. Example: http://www.neurobeat.com/temp/MiniViewIcons.jpg

the link shows exactly how i'd like them to be shown..
but when i use the thumbnail view the icons dont have a transparent background like on your pic, but an ugly and annoying black one.-

They are all black in the background ? Oh... is it with all icons or just with specific ones ? Can You give a link to a set that makes the problems ?

i used to dowload them from another page, where you can download MacOS icons,
here is the link to a icon library on that page :

http://www.xicons.com/downloads/0078libraries.sit.hqx

if you need the file already converted into windows ICL format
download it here:

http://mitglied.lycos.de/bilderbilderf/ico/Libraries.icl

you'll see that, if you take an icon from that library and watch it in thumbnail view in a folder there is a dark background, and when you use the same icon on the desktop the background is transparent..

There is no icon in the library. (?)

Converted the mac-icons and see the 'problem' now. I think, there is no solution. Seems to be a glitch in the thumbnail view of XP.

I purchased Icon Workshop. It has a built-in batch-converter for Mac icons. http://www.axialis.com
