Lost desktop after uninstalling Fences

It seemed I was having a problem with my Fences 2 install so I decided to uninstall it with the intent to reinstall.  After the uninstall, all the items on my desktop are gone.  I am running Windows 7 Pro.  Looking at the Desktop folder in my user profile, everything seems to be there, but nothing shows on the screen.  What happened and how do I fix it?

Right click on your desktop, view/show desktop icons.

Can you please explain me what is this fences? Actually I am a beginner and I found it little difficult. It would be highly appreciated if you help me.

Fences is a way to keep you Icons on the desktop organized. You right click on the desktop, click on create a fence, then drag  it to the size you want. You have the option to name it relating to Icons you want to put in it. Such as web links, programs etc. Then drag the Icons to that fence. You also have other options to personalize it. You can have several Fences on your desktop. I found it to be a handy program, butI am just sick of getting the popup to buy the newer version. I only use one Fence on my desktop and now am not using any for that reason. It makes me suspicious about what else they know about my computer!

If you have version 2, I don't think you should be getting upgrade prompts. Are you using the trial? Uninstalling it and re-installing will not reset the timer.
