Just saw this. Edward Snowden's leaked documents are being used by hackers to build bugs into computers to steal info.

Uvah, the way I understood the article you linked here is that those hackers (and everyone else) don't know what these supposed devices look like, but somehow even not knowing, are building countermeasures to defend themselves.

OK. Makes little or no sense, but that's the hackers (whoever they might be) doing for their own machines, not the NSAs machines.

Just how is that "giving the NSA a taste of its own medicine"?

Well hopefully, the hackers use the knowledge/technology to send a river of shit throughout all NSA offices [like it comes pouring out of the phones and modems, etc] and all operatives are so overcome by fumes they become simpletons incapable of ever performing their nefarious duties again.

Okay, maybe that's hoping for a little too much, but what the heck, it's 6.58 am, I haven't been to bed, and I can say silly shit cos I'm passing in and out of lucidity and have little or no idea what I'm saying.

:-" ;P :w00t: O:)

Orright, I'll tick that one up for you, but remember, I have a long memory and will remember this.

Okay, truth-be-known, the memory ain't so good in my old age, but I've written it down on a sticky note above my screen for payback at a later date.

And that goes for you pair laughing at my expense.... you will not be escaping my [mirthful] wrath.

 ;P :w00t:

@Doc:

By reverse engineering those devices it kind of gives the NSA a 'taste', as it were, of what they do to gather info about individuals and their doings and possibly turn it on the NSA themselves and see what they're up to. A distinct possibility I think.

a "taste of their own medicine" would be when the FSB or GRU would not only leak phone calls about who really shot the people on the Maidan or "fuck the EU" statements, but all their private phone calls as well.

but there's probably a "gentlemen's" agreement not to do that.

i know i would happily send the NSA all my passwords if i'd get their private data in return. they have much more to hide than i do. ;)

All that says to me is they've duplicated (maybe) some of these devices.

Now, just how do they put them in the NSA computers, and does anyone think the NSA doesn't inspect (thoroughly) any computer it buys for such devices/software?

put it in after the inspection then.

moshi...the NSA puts that stuff in its own computers? Why? That defies any logic.

believing that the NSA isn't infiltrated is naive.

the Russians wouldn't have granted Snowden asylum if the wouldn't already have known from other sources that his claims were true. ;)

Yup.

Nah, the way to fix the NSA isn't through tampering with their computers.

Nope, you rearrange their plumbing... so their toilets spray instead of flush. x_x

Then when they evacuate the building you sneak in, copy all their data to portable drives and bugger off before they've managed a change of clothes.

And paranoia is synonymous with sophistication in which dictionary?

Snowden didn't make or purchase computers for the NSA.
