Objectbar: The Mysterious Case of the Disapperaing Icons

Have a shareware version of OB, and i use it for a taskbar and systray. My icons have this habit of disappearing a couple of minutes after i boot up. Im left to guess what position the systray icons are in and click on them, sometimes with undesirable consequences.

Any pointers?

The only thing I can think is maybe you have the autohide function enabled on them. Open up your configuration utility and study the settings and options. There are some specific skins that have had that problem for me.

What version OB are you using?

Load Theme Editor (right click on taskbar or menu and choose properties). Open "File/General Options/Startup Options" and be sure you don't have "Disable Trayserver from Loading at Startup" checked. If it is, uncheck it, save, logoff or reboot and see if that fixes it.

I don't use desktop x so I don't know much about that. I was wonder which OB theme you are using?

Do you import the WB skin to them?

I don't use DesktopX either, so I probably cannot help you. ObjectBar problems with icons not showing in the system tray are usually caused by Trayserver.exe not loading, or not loading in the right order. On my computer, Trayserver.exe loads from HKLM, and ObjectBar, Windowblinds and Explorer Synchronizer load from HKCU and all the icons in the system tray show just fine. But it sounds like your problem may be a setting in DesktopX. You might check the DesktopX newsgroup and see if anyone else has had this problem.

I don't think so. Have you tried the new application... Object Doc? That is just for the bored part of you... we really should figure this other thing out. Are you on XP?

I was wondering something the other night... somewhere in the configuration utility there was a paramater "always have at least ~some number~ showing. One of the numbers is 0. dono... maybe a reach.

Are you on shareware too?

before i start trying to be to helpful, which problems are people getting?

the origional post doesnt sound like icons not reaching the system tray (normally by the clock) at all.

totaltully - have uninstalled objectbar (. the only reason i loaded object bar was to use hotkeys and get rid of the stupid start button.

you can use the short cut features of OB without getting rid of the start button if that helps.

i know it is only a partial solution to start with, but at least it is something.
