How come, they dont let you upload bryce created stuff, even if it works really well as a backround?

I was just wondering, because I recently purchased bryce 5, and I was amazed, but I got my wallpaper rejected, I know its in the rules, and you cant bend them, but just because its created in a certain program, does it mean that people cant see it?
Ive found that it works well as a wallpaper, its pleasant to look at, its has detail, but not to much to destract you, and yet nobody can see it, just because it was done in bryce?!

what would happen if they started to ban photoshop?

There's nothing wrong with Bryce...There is some incredible art made with it...There has also been many, many, many repetitive, plain and boring work done with it. Try again, pretty soon you will get one in here.

I did not see your wallpaper, so I can't comment on it specifically, but I'm sure it was not rejected simply because it was done in Bryce. It was probably rejected because it was too easy to make, or it looks too much like other wallpapers that are already in the library, or it was simply not deemed attractive.

WinCustomize's wallpaper library in intended to be the best of the best, therefore all submissions are looked at very critically. Bryce is not banned, it just takes a lot of work to make an impressive wallpaper. So, keep at it. Our moderators have a very keen eye when it comes to detecting canned effects. Many Photoshop wallpapers are rejected as well for their use of canned filters like the infamous Lens Flare.

As a basic rule of thumb, if it took 15 minutes to create, it's probably not going to pass. The quality of the work is often directly proportionate to the amount of time spent creating it.

It is very easy to have wallpaper made "by" Bryce............. the trick is to create the wall "with" Bryce.

Be creative & original and have a good play around with everything that Bryce can do.

Try and come up with something that doesn't look like it's made in Bryce, even though it is, that's a good place to start... consider it a challenge

Your wallpaper wasn't rejected simply because it was made in Bryce. I say that because unfortunately there are way too many Bryce wallpapers out there and being regularly accepted.

ENOUGH WITH THE G-D CHROME ALREADY!!!!

And please, let's not forget that a torus is a basic shape in 3d apps, there's nothing special about it. So, chains of donuts, donut flowers, etc., should really be given a hard road during moderation. I think unaltered primitive shapes were immediately moderated on the Shoggot scale of moderation, and I am beginning to see why...

hmmm, Torus...

Rome wasn't built in a day.
to learn bryce takes time, i've been at it for 2 years now and when i look at some other artists i feel as if i'm still barely scratching the surface.

Yes, but one hard and fast rule should be:

Shiny primitives? --> Moderated
And shiny primates....

And shiny privates....

And shiny dolphins....

The single problem with Bryce and similar proggies is that a novice with little practice or ability can 'create' something that amazes THEMSELVES as it is beyond their actual capability to do similar without the 'help' of the proggy.

"Hey, look wot I just dun!"
[I know this....I did the same, eons ago....and today the proggies are even more capable/powerful].

Once you have 'been there, done that', each successive Bryce -artist's 'loss of virginity' is just that....a thrill for them, but 'ho-hum' for the world at large.

It's like chrome filters.....how stupid is it that you could draw a nude in conte pencil 30 years ago, then load it into the comp and madly manipulate it in PaintShop, all manually with no use of 'filters' at all so that the pic now looks as close as possible to the original photo from which the conte was done...but after all that you apply a chrome filter and only THEN go 'wow'?

Just because it took about 40 hours to render the drawing....and 5 seconds to chrome it...

Remember....Bryce is just a tool which will never compensate for the quality/ability of its user.
Yes, you may think it's kewl....and the world probably agreed with that the FIRST time they saw Bryce in action.

That was then, this is now...

40 hours of rendering?...Eeeeeeeek I am far too impatient for that.

Styl...who are you asking?
Hmmm Can you speak of better art? Does ultimate art exist? In the old days paint was mixed by the artist, they saw tubes with paint perhaps as "not done". If you can't master the craft of making your own paint you were a loser...Tubes with paint make it for us much easier though, you can argue the same thing for Bryce perhaps. It is the creativity of the artist that makes a work work

I was asking it to Aurorae.
But in one way you are right, i think bryce isn't a good program for 'fine' artists. Its just a way to get quick nice results.
But now I am trying to get the hang on lightwave

and jave, your a wizop or a moderator huh?
(could you please check my new spidec submission, and if you like it, put it online here just cant wait for tomorow )

Aurorae, there is other site, without moderation that are just waiting to see your art and help you improve instead of just spitting you aside. To each site it's way of thinking. Try skinbase.org or artuproar.com They will comment on your work and if you need to improve or change something you will know.
