Beware the NSA [Naughty Spy Agency]

it's doing naughty things to people through Facebook

http://www.majorgeeks.com/news/story/nsa_using_facebook_login_pages_to_infect_computers_with_malware_%28video%29.html

Yeah, so what's next... invasive proctology exams to discover it was just a bagel you hurriedly ate at the airport just moments prior to going through the scanners, or perhaps covert cameras hidden in your toilet?

Either way, it seems to me that the NSA is going well beyond "reasonable means" to protect US citizens when it infects millions of PCs worldwide to 'so-say' seek out threats.  I mean, what does it stop short of... decompiling peoples bodies looking for nanotech that can destroy tall buildings with a single cell?  Or not?

For me, this sets too dangerous a precedent, and when it is reported the British Intelligence Agency assisted in this endeavour, it raises the question of how just many 'friendly' governments are complicit in this incessant search for power that has turned many innocent lives upside down.  Has the Australian government assisted also... and what sort of covert shit is it doing to 'protect' us Aussies?

Yeah, I know, break out the tinfoil hat, but we all know how trustworthy governments are... and how they've started every war since recorded history.  And no, I'm not paranoid!  It seems the NSA tore that page out of the dictionary and has taken ownership.  I mean, infecting millions of PCs worldwide... surely there has to be a crime in there somewhere.  If it were you or I, any private citizen doing this, we'd be charged with cyber crimes and locked away for a very long time.

Now I'm not suggesting that US citizens give the NSA the finger and say "Up yours" as they go through airport security, but I do think there needs to be some public backlash at what's going on and the excessive means... something to make them and the government more accountable before citizens of the US and the world lose all their rights... cos yeah, what happens there eventually infiltrates the rest of the world as other power hungry governments follow suit.

Oh and before I go, sleep tight tonight, knowing the NSA spy satellites, which can see through cracks in curtains and/or blinds, have got you covered.

And for those people who don't bother with bedroom curtains or blinds because they have no neighbours who can see in, the NSA wishes to thank you for your contribution to its extensive porn library.

How about the NSa spying on itself. Some congressional leaders have been complaining.

The thing is, if enough people write to their elected reps and to complain and demand greater transparency, or else they refuse to vote at the next election, I'm sure it would prick up a few ears among the powers that be.  It would unseat alot of politicians and there'd be alot of nervous reps so worried about their political futures that they'd be forced to act.

As always, though, there would be too much public apathy and disinterest, and unfortunately, politicians don't listen to that.

Well why wouldn't they be worried?  If as in Australia and the current government is dissolved the day of the election, those sitting members would technically no longer be legal representatives.  They would have to be re-sworn back in to legally represent, and if NOBODY voted for them then they could not be sworn in.. thus making them unemployed.

As I said before, however, there would be too much apathy and "what difference can I make?"... not to mention the conscientious voter who can't help but turn up to do the dirty deed,  So at the end of the day, then, is it that the politicians are so bad, or does America deserve what it asked for?

Since Politics are verboten here, I can't really say what I want.

Doc's got it right though....you can't be that naïve.

The first Executive Order the sitting President made was to seal his records so no one could find out his qualifications and background.

Suffice it to say, The Lunatics Are Running The Asylum.

Sad thing, the people that put the Dems in office are still backing them blindly and think things will be okay.

If things don't change soon, this nation as we know it will be lost forever.

Call me Chicken Little if you want, but "The Sky Is Falling" & "The End Is Near".

It's the same regardless of what country you're in... and while sanity should be the 1st requirement of office , nobody ever checks for that before candidates are sworn in to office... hence we get a variety of crackpots, nut jobs and almost there's but not quite.

As for politics, the intention of this thread was to raise the level of awareness as to what the NSA is doing in secret... and obviously people need to make demands of their elected officials to effect change... and that's where my naivety comes in.

No wonder your pollies are laughing all the way to the bank. cos frankly, if somebody were trying to organise a public push toward change, they'd have better luck pushing runny poo uphill with a knitting needle, such is the disinterest, apathy and blame laying that exists across all quarters.

Yup, you [almost] took the words right out of my mouth.
