See them here if you live up in northern Wisc. Down where I live, we see them once in a blue moon. In 1995 or around there, the sky was red, they were streaking from the north to the south...just gorgeous. The neighbor took photos of them, I have one someplace!

Thanks Uvah!!  :sun:

Don´t Be. Seen it once. Sweden is shaped as a long hot dog going from North to South & it´s only HIGH up there you get that extreme "OuterSpaceEffect" :sun:

Not to side bar or hijack

BUT, not as trippy as the summer night , about 830pm, thunderstorms and mad rain, sitting on the front porch, with some hobbit tobacoo{sorry}, and a van full of nuns, yes, nuns, stops at my driveway and comes to the porch, I am in the country and they are lost!

That was trippy!

6 am sitting on a jetty overlooking a small bay, coffee on the side, book in hand and hobbit tobaco at the ready. Long ago and far away.

I couldn't agree more. Hobbits got shaky hands, not good when you do your thing. Just check out your gallery and Kitty's. Nuff said.

WoW, I never actually saw the lights when I lived in the Northern Hemisphere... And now that I live in the Southern hemisphere i likely never will, well not for real up close and personal... hence my fascination for such film clips showing them off.

This clip did not let me down, not one little bit... thanks, Ross.

While on the page I scrolled down to read a story about crack being found in a Washington State dam

Apparently a radio announcement of crack being discovered in a Washington State dam, sent hordes of junkies to the site.  They converged enmasse on the site and began pulling apart structural aspects on and around the dam in their frantic search for the crack.  When authorities intervened and informed the junkies the crack referred to was in fact a split in the wall of the dam, one junkie lost the plot and screamed: "That'd be right, another government plot to get us out of our crack houses and out into the fresh air and sunshine.".

He was promptly arrested for disturbing the peace, urinating in public - he'd wet himself when it was revealed there was no crack - and admitting to being in a crackhouse only an hour prior.  A lawyer for the accused, a man who looks remarkably like Tommy Chong, said that his client was 100% innocent and would be contesting the charges... "that it was a very low and despicable act for none to be there after the radio announced there was crack to be found at the dam."

I'm still waiting to see snow fall....;p

Only fancy sky/lighting effects we get around this end of the world is smoke haze and the ruddy glow of bushfires on the horizon.

I saw plenty of that as a kid in the UK.  It was fun then, but not so much anymore, not with my aching old bones.  My last Winter in Tassie was graced with snow: firstly on Mt Barrow near Launceston, and again when we spent a day in Hobart.  That was the second time I'd seen snow since leaving England.

The other time was 20 something years ago when I went over to New Zealand to watch the sheep shagging championships. ;P A kelpie named Lancelot was the clear winner... finished off one herd and ready to start on the next when all other contestants conceded defeat.  Anyway, there was quite a bit of snow and ice at the Southern tip of the North island, and buckets of it everywhere throughout the South island.

I went for a walk on the Franz Josef Glacier, which is an experience I'll never forget.... standing on ice hundreds of years old and a 100's of feet thick.  It was truly beautiful up there, and the views were astounding.

I've only seen that in pictures, I can't imagine standing on it. :O
