Can't install skins??!

Hi,

I'm a newbie. I've downloaded WinBlinds and want to install a new skin from the web but it doesn't work. If I go to 'add' the programm searchs for *.wba and *.zip-files but the programm doesn't found (or can't read) the downloaded file (but there is a *.wba-file)? What can I do ? Where is my problem?

Windowblinds should auto install the skin. When you click to download a skin it should just download and then disappear. If you look in your Apperance it should be in the drop down list of available skins.

With that being said you can opt to save the ---.wba into a folder on your computer. If you do this, click the add button you mentioned and navigate to the place you downloaded it to. If you can't remember where it is try searching for *.wba on your computer.

The 'wba' suffix is just a registry-aware archive for Windowblinds, a re-named 'zip' file.
When downloading web content I've always found it sensible to right-click and save to a 'known' location such as 'c:\downloads\'...[quite clever name, that], where it/they can be accessed at your leisure and even opened prior to 'installation' just to check that it's 'all there'.

Tidy downloading practise....that is, where you always know where it's gone and what it is, is a 'good thing' to get into...

The method to my madness is that I download skin files to the skin folder of that particular program. All 'other' downloads (new programs or updates) go to a download folder.
As Jafo said, knowing where your download is stored is a 'good thing'.....whatever your method.
