Sid Caesar, The King of Comedy Has Died

Sid Caesar was perhaps the funniest comedian of his generation.

He founded the role of comedy in sitcoms in the then B&W infant television. He was born to Russian-Jewish immigrant parents who ran a diner. He taught himself comedy and went on the Catskill Circuit. He was married to his wife Florence for 67 years. She passed away in 2010.

That's why I put that picture up...that was Sid getting a TVLand Award at age 83...back in 2006.

Today he's left the stage...and everything just got a good bit grayer, duller and sadder.

May your memory be blessed, Sid.

<3   He was a very funny man.  We "oldies" grew up with Sid Caesar, Red Buttons, Milton Beryl, Johnny Carson, and a host of others. The beginning of television and some of the very best programs were long ago, not now. I seldom watch TV, my preference I know, but to me most of it is junk.
