DesktopX 2 screenshot

When someone thinks that there's not much more you can do to customize Windows...think again.

DesktopX 2 will, amongst other things, let you treat your desktop icons as "objects" (rather than requiring that you replace your desktop). It has built in settings for adding shadows, glows, and other effects right to your desktop and allows for setting their sizes for different states all with animation.

This desktop screenshot is using Mormegil's Orion icon suite. I have them set at 72x72 for my desktop and 32x32 everywhere else. And I added a shadow to the icons.

Brad: That looks wonderful, but I have a question; If DX can add a shadow to icons, does that mean I could bring in a DX object without alpha blending and then add a shadow to it, or would I have to fool DX into thinking the object was an icon!?
Does that make sense?

/me goes and plans his next theme without waiting for the answer, hoping it will be in the affirmative.............

/me is useless at those alpha blended images, always gets it wrong!

So it is like you can add alpha blending to your desktop icons right

Looking at the screenshot i note that there is animated transitions and frames, does this mean it can act as a Zoomer?

Looks pretty spiffy...

Yes. It can automate zoomers and they look better than hand done zoomers. In the screenshot, if you make zoomers with Paul's icons they look particularly good because he has 32x32 up to 72x72 so it has "reference points" on zooming.

But will it be able to add a shadow to ANY object, even if its not an icon or a zoomer?
That is awesome! can't wait to get my hands on it
