Stop crying and pay!!! I get "server busy" also, not always but i do, SO whats the big deal, we all get them, that don't mean the admin's are not doing your jobs., It only means the site is the BEST out there ...Stop crying!!

Don't even have to buy a subscription. He could buy Object Desktop or get WindowBlinds or IconPackager or whatever.

I have a 3 meg dsl line. I am a level 4 member. On occasion, I too have got the infamous "Server too busy". So what? Why complain?

I guess you've concluded there's no possibility that the volume of traffic and use of this site has substantially increased in a year and a half, impacting both speed and access. (My experience in accessing this site suggests otherwise, BTW.) Perhaps WC bought another server (with that bs WC subscription money) just for a lark rather than actual need due to increased demand?

Have you contributed to this site by submitting skins? Do you have at least one licensed copy of a stardock app? (I take it you're not a WC subscriber.) If you haven't contributed in some such form then, by "loyal members" do you mean "loyal users?"

People sometimes just dont get it. Its not like we are getting payed to upload stuff, we upload for free. So the loyal "member" can get anything he wants with out contributing a single bit of time and now u complain about it. i have 4 words for you

If you ante up the few $$$ for a subscription you should find no dramas downloading anything via the Wincusto browser.

Still, I think everybody should be able to get our free submitted works for free !
If one is forced to buy a program or a subscription to get access to this site, my work wouldn't be free and the money goes to the wrong person because I don't get paid. That only applies to wallpapers and skins for free programs like winamp though. You can't have WB without having bought the program and then you should be able to access this site without the busy error, that's what Frogboy says. So watch out if this line is crossed

You don't have to buy a program or get a subscription to use programs or to get skins. You can use the trial version of WB's but your scroll bars won't get skinned. You can download skins from here, but because we are busy, you may get a server message now and then.

No one is forcing you to buy anything. If you want to be paid for your skins, open your own site, pay for the bandwidth, and see how many you sell!
If you are so intent on making sure your skins are for free, then just put them on DevArt or skinbase or artuproar, that way the *evil* developers of the software won't be making any money off you!

What I said is that this site has been promoted as a free site and that everyone could download works for free. IF now the policy is changed and ONLY subscribers or stardock customers can access this site, a lot of people are excluded to look at "free" works. It still isn't clear to me whether this is going to be a site only accessible for subscribers and customers, or that this site is accessible for everyone. It looks you get angry because you think I like to flame or whatever. That is not so. I wish there was more clarity about this server busy error. There has been some posts about it in the past and never a clear answer is given. I stand by my words that IF this site is only ACCESSIBLE FOR customers and SUBSCRIBERS, work I submit is NOT FREE.

i once (a long time ago) got promoted past the bandwidth cap by my scandalous waste of this sites bandwidth! all those helpful and constructive posts on the message board were sufficient

got to love the irony that by using up bandwidth i contributed, so got to use up even more bandwidth

short version for lazy readers - you can get promoted without spending any money, and even without submitting skins.

oh yes, Jadachris2003 i even subscribed even though i dint download many skins. i just love this place, and owe them for many many happy hours over the last year or two since the site opened.

this is MY understanding of the sites policy:

when the sites resorces are running out members who have PAID to support, get priority access to the resorces.

when the site isnt overloaded, there is no need for this rule to be applied.

where else are the extra resorces supposed to come from to handle an ever increasing number of visitors?

DA uses popup adds as part of their solution. personally, i prever WC's solution.

I have to back Boxxi up on this one, Lecrayon. No one has to buy anything, it's not a requirement to access this site. But, this IS a very busy site, and if you don't wish to chip in, by contributing in some way, you'll get shut out some times.

Thanks feline, that is reasonable. That's way different than closing down this site for visitors.
