Occasional Repaint Problem

White box on desktop Win7

Sometimes a floating dock will disappear. A white box appears on the desktop in the location of the dock.

I run a second monitor attached to my Windows 7-64 Lenovo W500 laptop. I forced a repaint by closing the second monitor.

I don't know how to force a surgical repaint.

Any thoughts about the cause and solution?
