If coments are objectionable, or just plain 'moronic' they 'can' be deleted...just let me know if and when it's needed...

Davad: Everyone knows your work is fabulous. One moron with no taste, who cares! Keep doing what you do.
/me goes off to find the moron and kick his a**..............

Ahhh, he didn't really hurt my feelings or anything. It just baffles me how some people can have so little respect for people who give their work for free. If someone were dissatisfied with the something that they were expected to pay for that would be one thing. But if it's free and you have no interest in it, just move along.

Thanks for the encouragement guys. I've had a hard time skinning the last few months, so I appreciate any encouragement that comes my way.

On the bright side, his access isn't high enough to rate skins. So he can't affect your rating.

Your talents are without question Dave
Onwards and upwards.

Don't worry about it - one comment can't spoil quality work.

What I wonder about is why anyone would want to waste time by commenting on something he or she doesn't like in the first place.

Crae....'tis the nature of the beast...

OK, flame me about this, but everybody is allowed to his opinion. He did not insult, use profanity or any personal attack. He just said that the skin was of no interest to him. How is that bad? What are comments worth if people only post positive comments? How am I ever to know if my skins are really good if people just flater me and only post positive things. For all I know, if people don't dare to post negative comments, all my skins could be total crap.
Personnaly, I think negative comments are just as important as positive ones, as it gives value to the latter.

That said, of course I think the skin is very nice. I'm not ditching the skin, I just think that negative comments also have a place and we shouldn't be so offended by them. Even the greatest movies get bad reviews once in a while.

Yeah but the comment left wasn't negative, just pointless. If you say 'I don't like this skin because...' or 'an improvement can be made by...' etc., that would be helpful to the skinner.

Even an unfavourable movie review has some content. Even the worst movie reviewer can say a bit more than 'I went to see xxxx, it was of no interest...'!

I go along with Paxx. If it's of no interest it doesn't say anything about the skin, it just says he didnt like it. I can't believe someone gets upset about that. Someone said on one of my cursors he found it gay work...now what's that for a comment. I guess he didn't like it.

There's not much you can do with a comment like that (the comment on davad70's skin). It's not offensive enough to remove, so best to just ignore it. It's basically a null/void comment as it offers no direction or detail at all.

A classic waste of time that reflects only on the author of the comment itself.

Keep up the great work davad70.

Ditto to what many others have said...

I welcome comments such as...."I'm not crazy about this part...maybe try this", etc.

But to just say I have no interest seems pointless. I have to think that the only purpose of it was to irritate me, which it obviously does to a degree.

Yes, it was very nice. 8-0 Who would have imagined???

I once had a comment on a wallpaper that said, " Of all the wallpapers here at Wincustomize, this is one of them."

How's that for a unhelpful comment?

BTW, my reply to that line was, "I agree, of all the wallpapers I think this is one of them too! "

You just gotta roll with the punches.

motion....your response should have been....'no, this is not one of them, it's the other one'....

To me, this is one area of life that's pretty clear.
Criticism is destructive. It hurts everyone.
Sometimes suggestions are the equivalent of criticism - now the picture gets blurry..... and I don't know what else to say.

If critisism is destructive. Critisism can be constructive and therefore welcome. Like all things it depends on how you choose your words

Found as a comment for a new screenshot : 'your a idiot........' Hmmm, well that's constructive...
No, c242, that's not a comment, that's a personnal attack. Saying "That skin does nothing for me." is not an attack. I really don't think it's bad at all. I've seen far worse comments. The person is only saying that that style of skin isn't his thing.
Of course it wasn't too elaborate, but then again, tell me how "Great skin, man!" is in any way constructive and helpful? All it does is boast your ego, and I don't see anything constructive about that. Most people don't need a bigger ego.

I'm sorry, I'll be blunt: if you don't like negative comments, don't post your work in public. At this point, Davad, this isn't just for you, but for all the people who just want to be flattered about their work.

In short, long comments are better. But some people are lazy. Some people are incapable of typing more than 5 words in a row. The person who leaves as a comment "This skin sucks" on a skin he doesn't like is very likely to write "This skin rocks" about a skin he does like. Neither are helpful, either are meaningless. But if you accept the later, you have to accept the former as well, they are part of the same package.
