Start 8 Search Not as Good as Default Win8 Search

Certain applications I use regularly (not daily, so I don't bother pinning them to the taskbar) seem to require more letters than necessary to be found in the Start8 search box.

For it to find Photoshop I need to type "phot" before it will come up, but if I use the default Windows 8 search I just need to type the letter "P" and it pops up right away. Similarly if I want to search for Free Download Manager I need to type "free do" before it comes up in Start8, and I only need to type "fr" in the Windows 8 search.

Is there an option that will make Start8 share the search capabilities of Windows 8?

Start8 uses the same indexer as Windows 7 used.

Is this not just a case of more results being visible in the Windows 8 start screen?  If you type P I would expect many matches and you are only going to see about 5 of them based on the default menu height.

My main beef is that the Windows 8 indexer is slow.

For example, I save a file to disk. I then open up Start8, type in the name, it doesn't find it. That's annoying.

Here is the Start8 search for "p" expanded to 20 icons (even setting it to 30 wouldn't show photoshop in the initial results)

And here is the same search in the Windows 8 start screen

I haven't found this to be the case.
