Skinstudio and the image size

Hello allthgether,

I am a newbee in the skinstudio (Stardock Skinstuio 8.0, Windows 8) and I would like to replace a few images in a already existing skin.
For instance the images for checkboxes. The original size in the skin for the checkbox image is 144x12, but my new image is: 216x18.

If I import the new image it is not correctly displayed in the skin, because (so I guess) the layer is to small, where the image lives in.

I added a aditional layer but that doen't helf ether.

How can I make the new image displayed the right size in my skin.

(I don't want to resize the image, because the image with the height of 18 looks much nicer, than the small one.

I guess I now know what the problem is.

It is not the size, but some applications, like opera browser, don't skin for instance checkboxes the right way.
