WindowBlinds does not apply theme

Installs fine, but applying theme doesn't work

Hi guys,

just re-installed W8 (x64) on my machine two days ago and wanted to get WB8 started again.

I own both the operating system and WB8 legally and I am using the most up to date versions of both (W8 fully updated, WB8 tested both 8.0 and 8.01beta).

My problem is as follows:

WindowBlinds installs perfectly fine, but when I try to apply a skin the skin's animation shows up, but nothing happens. I can now left click and the process will just stop (returns to clear desktop and WB window) or wait for about a minute for the process to disappear by itself. No skin gets applied, nothing changes.

When this happens I can not start this process for any other skin until I restart my PC

Even restarting WBSrv or killing wbconfig does not allow me to repeat this until the next restart. The only thing that produces a reaction is clicking default theme. That makes the loading circle on the mouse cursor spin for a while, but still nothing changes (as it is already on default theme, I guess).

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling WB8/8.01 about twenty times now with restarts in between (both after/before installing/uninstalling and applying themes).

So I have tried almost everything. I even uninstalled Avast AntiVirus and tried this without any AV software whatsoever...

Any ideas?

UAC is completely disabled btw. Also LUA in registry.

Edit:

I'm also using Start8, but I have tried uninstalling that already.
