and how do you propose we make the server 'un-busy?' after all, it's not like someone has a button on their desktop labeled 'send server-busy message.' or a 'buy more servers' button, for that matter.

accessing the site via the skin browser should make it a bit easier to get on, if i recall correctly.

ok... so maybe I shouldn't play devil's advocate any more... it didn't work out quite the way I expected it to.....

The original post has a certain amount of irony to it. He accuses the admins/hosts of being morons, yet the logic of his post is moronic because it implies that the admins prefer to keep the site overly busy and overtaxed and that they're not intrested (or too stupid) in making the site more efficient.

Why is it that when such people post such things, they never bother to think things through logically? ...sigh...

Think of the logic, the servers are busy because there is so much traffic; what kind of moron sees that and yet still keeps trying and trying to get through, thus adding to the congestion and ensuring the server stays too busy for them to connect?

I've never seen one of these messages. But I bought my copy of Object Desktop so I get premium access to the site.

I too purchased object Desktop from Stardock - but that doesn`t stop the main problem of how the hell you get anything to download off this site anymore. For the last couple of weeks, I havn`t been able to download one windowblinds skin. Not one. Pretty disappointing.
(yet you can look at *anything* you want to....)

foonacha.. you might want to send your problem to t-man. it sounds like something is interfering with your downloads..

foonacha - Object desktop gives you access to all the cool programs for sure but it's the Skinbrowser subscription that puts you first in line for the downloads. Like the werewolf, I've never seen a busy notice.

Re the originator of the thread, it might be interesting to track the number of threads started each week by trolls with the same sad bitch. Brad - you like stats, how about this one?

I think if the server is busy it would stop many people from comeing back as oppossed to makeing more people come to the site.

Um.... I haven't had any trouble downloading anything with or without using the browser.... I alternate. I haven't seen a server busy page in ages.....

My understanding is that registered customers of stardock apps also have priority status at WC, not just WC subscribers. Is that not correct?

Foomacha: yes, email T-man as migelito says. I don't believe you should be having those problems, at least certainly not to that extent. Not if you're a registered stardock app user and your WC account is synched with your stardock account.

I'm a moron and I'm proud...

I've been on this site for about 15 months. The first 6 as a visitor. The rest I signed up for an account. I've never experienced 90% of what these posts reflect. It's been slow at times but not to the extent that I could not download. Either I'am extremly lucky or this site has realy grown. I subscribed 3 months ago to help keep this site viable for the supporters as well as the freeloaders. So until you've anted, up shut up.

Thanks for the info everyone. ...& there was me cynically thinking that my ability to download skins using good `ol IE had been blocked somehow in order to "force" me to blow more money on an app ("Skin Browser") which i`ve never needed til now... I`ve lived with the slow downloads & 404`s you occasionally used to get on this site-& understood that you just have to live with these problems on a busy server. But i`ve never held with being forced onto a pay-service to get something i used to get gratis. If my ability to download windowblind skins has been compromised for further financial gain by stardock-they certainly won`t be getting my next OD subscription.

All that people whoning about paying should go here http://www.themexp.org and never come back. Stuff is free there and it takes You only one hour to log in...

And that happens with 28 people on that site. Great, huh ?

I guess I must have slept thru the day when it was decided Art is given away for free.There is some great fun here.The whole package less than 100$ for 2 years.I think we would get even better stuff from our favorites if Stardock paid them for their work.
