Start8 Bug

I have Start8 version 1.17 on my computer. Ever since I've had Start8 version 1.16 I've had an issue where at log on to Windows 8 when I try to get to the Windows 8 start screen it crashes. After this I'm able to get to the Metro start screen OK.

To me this is just an annoyance that I can live with. However I would be interested in finding a fix for this. Can anyone help me?
