Transparency

Aero Metals Theme

Hello, this is my first post here. I just got Windowblinds. The transparency of Windows (not the taskbar, not the start menu) does not change when I adjust and apply the transparency setting. It stays completely opaque. I am using the Aero Metals theme, but have noticed the same problem with other skins.

Any ideas?

If you mean the client area of the window, I don't think transparency affects that.  I have transparency set to a little under 50% for all three settings (using the Sublime theme) and only see it in the taskbar, the start menu, and the window frame borders.  Same is true of other themes I tried.

Look to the settings for Explorer Backgrounds. This is where you'll find that setting.

Redneck Dude: I don't get those sliders or options in the theme I'm using (sublime).

Instead, I only get the colors that you should below the sliders.

In the Transparency Settings panel, I only get three sliders: start menu, task bar, and window borders.

I see nothing that allows me to change the transparency of the window client area.

UPDATE: did some more "exploring" and DID find the panel you show -- but I moved the sliders all the way to the left, clicked Apply Style, and it makes no difference -- except in Windows Explorer.  Was really hoping to change client area transparency in general.

Speak redneck, man! I assume you mean the white area in my screenshot? The area inside the frames of the window?

That's right ... but ...

Looking at both your screenshots, you have the Active window opacity set to 50% -- and as can be seen better from the screenshot in Reply #6, there appears to be NO transparency.  None of the stuff in the window behind the Windowblinds Config window appears to be bleeding through.

I even tried a test by setting both opacities to zero and, only the Windows Explorer client window has transparency.  None of the other app client windows, including Windowblinds, shows any transparency at all.

So again, this only appears to affect Windows Explorer -- which is not surprising, given what it shows in the settings panel.

In WB7x, I was able to set the transparency of the start menu, taskbar, and windows borders for any theme; the effect would preview;  however, I can't seem to find any controls to this this now. Where did this go in W8? (windows 7 64bit OS).

hdrabkin, the answer is in reply 6. Top right of the window are transparency sliders.

Those do nothing for the start menu and taskbar; nothing changes; you can even see this in the preview
