Windows Defender causing boot to Metro UI

Hello,

I have a new laptop with a fresh install of Windows 8.  First thing I did was install Start8, and it worked great - I set it to boot right to the Desktop, which it did without issue (although the Metro UI did flicker for a split second before going to the Desktop).

All the meanwhile, I was using a 3rd party anti-virus.  I decided to remove that program, and just use the built-in Windows Defender.  Once I did this, however, Windows now boots to the desktop, and immediately kicks back over to the Metro UI.  It's like it works for a second, and then Windows Defender somehow forces it back to the Metro.

I tried disabling Windows Defender, and sure enough, Windows boots back to the desktop again, with the help of Start8.

Has anyone else had a problem with Windows Defender not allowing Start8 to boot Windows into the Desktop?

Also (and now I'm being greedy), has anyone found a way to have Start8 have Windows just boot directly into Desktop mode, without even entering into the Metro UI for a split second?

Thanks

What version of Start8 do you have?

Start8 should go straight to the desktop without going via the Metro UI what so ever.

I have 1.15.0 - just downloaded a couple days ago form the Start8 website.

Like I said, it's worked fine, but I did always see the Metro UI for a split second, and then it switched quickly over to the desktop.

The bigger issue, though, is that it's now starting correctly into the desktop, and then kicking over to the Metro UI for some reason.  I think Windows Defender is the culprit, but not sure.

Any settings I can tweak or changes I can make to prevent this?
