high explorer CPU usage on disconnected session

I'm using start8 our my Windows 2012 server, and it seems that start8 is causing a 20-30% CPU usage increase in the explorer process after a session is disconnected for a while. As soon as you reconnect the session the CPU load goes down to normal. It only happens to the administrator session, not a normal user session. It is definitely start8, since I saw it happen all the time in process monitor and the problem went away after uninstalling start8.

I'd love to put start8 back on. Any idea what is going on? Anything I can do to help the find the issue? (I've access to many development/debugging tools on the computer)
