"Recreate pinned shortcut to Windows 8 Start Menu" does not work

Windows 8 Start shorcut no longer on Start8 menu

Start8 has been working great for me and I'm very happy with it. However, I no longer see the "Windows 8 Menu" icon on the Start8 menu, and despite there being a button to recreate it in the Control tab of Start8, this button is grayed out and unclickable. I tried uninstalling Start8 (v,1.1) and installing v1.12, but it did not help. There must be some registry setting that I can change, or reset all Start8 defaults by removing registry entries.

What do you think?

The button is greyed out when there is no need for it to be clickable because the shortcut is already there. This is detected based on the file in the standard pinned items location which would be C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\StartMenu

Did you by any chance set the properties on the shortcut to hidden?
