Secondary IP addy gets changed after connecting bug?
Two systems: Windows 8 Enterprise 64. Connected to same 4 port router switch.
Primary is custom built gaming desktop, Asus mobo.
Secondary is a Lenovo Thinkpad x230
Install process:
On Primary system --> Add computer --> Finds secondary (correct name, correct IP) --> Double click and select --> Enter passcode --> Save
Immediately I notice the checkbox for "Always connect to IP xxx.xxx.x.x " has a different IP address off by either 1 to 7 digits
Problem:
When the primary did it's detection routine it found correct IP address. But at the exact save screen the number is off. I have installed and uninstalled Multiplicity on both systems. Due to some issues on the secondary laptop, I wiped the OS and did a clean install of just windows and drivers. Have run Lenovo System Update and Slimdrivers utility to make sure all drivers are perfect.
I suspect a problem on the Primary which is causing the change in IP address of the secondary machine after detection. I have disabled both machines' windows firewall and that did nothing.
All Stardock Services are running on both. Inbound firewall stuff listed to be fine as and identical on both systems. The secondary pings fine at the right IP address from Primary to Secondary.
I don't have the luxury to wipe the Desktop gaming machine right now or I would have done it. Need to figure out where my software glitch is and would appreciate some pointers, hints and advice.
Simpler question: Why can't I change IP address or force the IP address in the Primary saved config of the secondary system?
