OMFG!! Ive just purchaced object decktop and its just not working properly......

ok i have DL and installed all components. My main aim was to find a skin like Mac OSX, which i found one on the winstyles section. It even has the windows start menu so seemed perfect. Why is it that the floating icons on the desctop are there and then they disapear not to be seen again? Also the wall paper doesnt load for it. If i DL a new winstyle then sometimes it leaves half the bloody old one there! Is there anything im doing wrong?
Anybody please help me im desperate i dont really want to have wasted $49.99, and end up going back to styleXP!
My aim is maverick21uk , my msn is [email protected] if anybody wants to IM me and talk me through it.
My os is XP with PIIII 2ghz , 1024 meg ram and a 64meg G-force 2 chip incase any of these are the problem? *sigh please help

What exactly are you using to do this them, there are several OS-X themes, Object bar, Desktop X, Windowblinds? You might need to do some configuring to get it working write. But if what you want is a Mac. Buy a Mac. If you want do have your own Desktop or GUI configuration, the possibilities are endless with Object Desktop, you just have to do some experimenting.

PS. There is more OD support on the Stardock News Groups, check there befoe you give up.

Good luck.

Or you could [email protected] Stardock support . . .

A winstyle will not override things that are not included in the style. So if your new winstyle has only a WB skin and an OB theme and you have a DX theme loaded, it won't change the DX theme.

As for the disappearing icons, check that it's just not a popup that's displayed when you move your mouse to the bottom of the screen.

I think that the one that he is referring to does use mouse over. It is a desktopX object. So, it is like having an auto hide task bar. you just need to configure it.

And, GR is right, if one theme has less than the other theme, then parts of the old theme will be left behind.

I am not a skinner... or much of an expert... but I always have those same problems when I use win styles... If I were you... I would make sure that win styles is set to use your current settings.... and manually install the different themes you want from each section of wincustomize... you can find some awesome os x window blinds skins... there is one call... squa by vlad which is my fav osx skin... doesn't match osx completely but i like it... and under desktop there are plenty of themes you can use... but I think the prob may be just with winstyles or with the theme you are trying to use... what is it called, who made it??? let me download and see if I can recreate the same situation...
