Cannot Move Icons After Uninstalling Fences

I tried the trial version of Fences and I didn't like it. During the trial I disabled the fences feature and eventually uninstalled it. Now I have a problem in that my desktop icons can only be put flush left in a descending order. This wasn't the way my desktop was before Fences, how do I fix it? I use Windows 7. Thank you for your time.
