Help making icons for DesktopX!!

Hey everyone! Alright, I'm a complete n00b to this whole thing and I've been playing around with it all day. I want to know how I can make my own icons for DesktopX that I can put on the desktop. Maybe something similar to the "globe" effect or something. Is there a way I can convert all my old .ico files to the .dxpack file so I can use them?

Also..

How do I make custom drop down menus and that? Say I make a couple menus in Photoshop. How do I make it so I click on it and they're all drop down's and stuff? Like I said I'm a n00b and this thing, so I really don't know what I'm doing yet.

Thanks all!

One way to do it is by taking a theme that does something similar to what you want and taking it apart, break it, and fix it.

Yeah, but how do I make my own icons? I have a lot of programs that the people haven't make icons for. Even if it's not a "globe" or the zooming globe icons, that's cool. Anyone have any ideas about this?

One way is to shell out $$$ and get a program that will convert .ico's to .bmp's.

The second way is to take a screenshot of the desktop. Crop it till the icon is about the only thing there. Then use that as a guide for making your own that fits in with the rest of your theme. This can take up gobs of time at first, but it gets easier with some practice.

If you are going to make a zoomer I would suggest that you start with the largest version first. Small .bmp's and .png's shrink better then they expand.

If you are going to make it with transparent sections use the .png format. It cures many headaches that magic pink can cause.

I just downloaded this program called ico2bmp..it looks like freeware or something. I'm going to try it out. Would you suggest I just convert the ico to a bmp and my original will be the big version? and then shrink it down smaller to make the zoomer?
