Paint Shop Pro Anniversary Edition and .psd files

Sometimes, not often, I can open .psd files with no problem, sometimes I get an "undefined error #545" or something to that effect. PSP shows to be capable of using .psd files, but why can't I open them. Does anyone else using PSP have this problem?

Hi werewolf. I have found that I have to merge the layers in Photohop before I can open the .psd file in PSP. It keeps the transparency, but the layer info used in Photoshop is gone. Hope this helps.

I heard the same thing as starone yesterday from a guy I work with. Photoshops layers don't seem to transfer smoothly to PSP. False advertising?

I think PSP can open Photoshop files with layers, but not all versions of Photoshop. Certain layer features may not be compatible with PSP, such as text layers and layer folders. Opening a Photoshop 4 document with layers for example may work.
I'm not sure though.

OK, from Paintshop Pro's Knowledgebase section:
"Paint Shop Pro 7 is able to open most Photo Shop 6 .PSD files. However, if the .PSD file contains any proprietary information in it such as Vector content, or Adjustment Layers Paint Shop Pro may not be able to view the file. "

Thanks for the replies. I appreciated the research I don't use photoshop, but some folks have sent me their .psd templates for certain things so I could do ports of their WB skins, but I can't open them. Oh well. Thanks again.
